My Time at Zapier
I joined Zapier in mid-2021 as a Product Manager and have spent the past four-plus years helping millions of people build more powerful automations. What started as owning a small program (Experts by Zapier) quickly evolved into leading product strategy for one of Zapier's most complex areas: the Workflow Zone, where the core automation builder lives.
2021: Getting Started
I joined to run the Experts by Zapier program and Sharing & Settings, then moved to the Zap Editor team within my first six months. The Editor is the core interface where users build automations, and it became my home for the next several years. I ramped quickly in Zapier's fully remote, async-first culture and started contributing to the foundational work of modernizing the editing experience.
2022: Shipping at Speed
This was the year I proved I could deliver. I shipped features like Duplicating & Reorder Steps and Copy & Paste Steps that addressed long-standing user requests. I also led the shaping work for Reusable Functions, one of the earliest explorations of automation composability at Zapier.
When the company pivoted hard toward AI in late 2022, I proactively formed an Editor AI team to explore how AI could transform how people build automations. That bet paid off the following year.
2023: The Breakout Year
I led two teams simultaneously (Editor Creation and Editor AI) through a series of high-visibility launches. The biggest: shipping the Visual Editor to GA, completing a multi-year effort to modernize the Zap building experience. I also launched the AI Zap Builder, which brought AI-assisted automation creation to every Zapier user and drove consistent week-over-week growth in AI-assisted Zap creation. Other launches included AI for Formatter, Suggested Field Mapping, and Saved Steps.
This was the highest-output period of my career, and the reviews reflected it: I received Zapier's top impact ratings for the year.
2024: Quality and Platform Health
I shifted focus from feature velocity to making the product reliable and performant at scale. I led a Jotai state management migration (zero post-release bugs), drove Editor Performance improvements that exceeded Core Web Vitals standards, and shipped five iterative releases of an Editor Redesign.
I also launched Global Variables, a feature enabling scalable, reusable automation configuration. On the AI side, I expanded AI by Zapier with new model selection, bring-your-own-key support, and reliability improvements. A key insight from this period: paid accounts using AI by Zapier were the only cohort exceeding 100% Day 90 net revenue retention.
My role expanded to zone-level leadership, supporting our PM Director across the Workflow Zone on operational cadences, cross-squad coordination, and strategic planning.
2025: Strategy and Cross-Team Leadership
My work shifted toward strategy, cross-zone coordination, and AI integration at scale. I led the shaping and launch of Human in the Loop, a feature enabling human oversight at critical points in AI-powered workflows. We delivered it on time for ZapConnect (Zapier's annual conference) and it removed a key blocker for enterprise AI adoption.
I drove a 55% increase in weekly AI by Zapier tasks from July to December through a combination of reliability improvements, UX enhancements, and new capabilities like file object support and Knowledge by Zapier.
On the strategy side, I authored the Reusability & Composability strategy that defined how Zapier should think about making automations shareable, composable, and scalable across teams. This directly influenced the company's investment in Configurable Templates, which I shaped and positioned for a Q1 2026 launch.
Where I Am Now
I'm a Lead Product Manager (L5) in the Workflow Zone, one of Zapier's core product areas. I lead product strategy for how people build, reuse, and scale automations. My current focus areas are configurable templates, reusability and composability, and the intersection of AI and workflow building. I work across multiple squads and zones, partnering with engineering, design, and research to ship products that serve Zapier's 2.2M+ customers.
